Guitar Orchestra
The twelve-member Keene State College Guitar Orchestra, directed by Dr. Jose Lezcano, Professor of Music, will present a program entitled “From Bach to Bachianas: Music of Germany, France, Spain, and Brazil.” Works by Attaignant, Faure, Mozart, Bach, Villa-Lobos and Lopes.
Soloists will include Lauren Weiner, a student soprano, who will sing the famous Aria from Villa-Lobos’ “Bachianas Brasilieras no. 5,” virtually a second Brazilian anthem; and guitar students Jordan Chase and Tom Fox, who will perform Bach’s Two-part inventions no. 4 and 8.
Pierre Attaignant’s Dances from the Renaissance (Two Branles and Pavan); Mozart’s elegant Divertimeno KV 439b, Faure’s charming Berceuse from the Dolly Suite for children, and Lopes’ thrilling “Gallito” a Spanish Pasodoble in Flamenco Style, round out the program.
