B.A. Studio Option

  1. Professional presentation of artwork: Presentation of students' artwork meets professional standards and expectations.
  2. Skill with materials: Student artwork demonstrates proficiency with use of chosen media and indicates a breadth of materials experience.
  3. Skill with concepts: Student artwork demonstrates competence and understanding of color, line, shape, form, etc. and composition.
  4. Creativity and originality: Student work has an unique quality with creative elements, demonstrates risk taking, imagination and innovation.
  5. Consistency: Student work has a cohesive and unified quality regarding technical and advanced conceptual issues.
  6. Artistic maturity: Subject matter explored indicates artistic development appropriate to senior-level coursework.
  7. Verbal articulation: Students will demonstrate ability to articulate the historical, contemporary, and individual contexts of their studion art practices.
  8. Self-directed studio art project: Students will demonstrat ability to complete a comprehensive body of self-directed studio work consistent with individual conceptualization.
  9. Professional exhibition practices: Students will demonstrate ability to organize and hang individualized senior exhibition project according to professional gallery standards.
  10. Professional portfolio: Students will demonstrate ability to assemble a digital portfolio of their artwork according to professional standards.

Graphic Design Option

  1. Research and concepts: Student work demonstrates ability to problem solve, think critically, and create strong visual concepts.
  2. Understanding of typography: Student work demonstrates both conventional and unconventional typographic skills.
  3. Design strength: Student work demonstrates an ability to use the principles and elements of graphic design.
  4. Technical merit: Student work demonstrates technical proficiency in the use of professional design software packages.
  5. Presentation: Student work demonstrates ability to document work through professional level portfolio of work.
  6. Knowledge of Graphic Design history: Student work demonstrates knowledge of history of profession.
  7. Self-directed research: Students will demostrate the ability to conceptualize, execute, and exhibit a senior thesis project.

Graphic Design/Studio Dual Option
