Dr. Jim R. Kraly
Professor Kraly's teaching and research are in the field of Analytical Chemistry, where instrumentation is used for qualitative and quantitative chemical measurements. Professor Kraly teaches General Chemistry I and II (INCHEM 111, CHEM 112), Quantitative Analysis (CHEM 251), and Instrumental Analysis (CHEM 454). Research in the Kraly lab broadly focuses on the use of modern separation science to address relevant environmental and biological questions. Current projects include 1) the investigation of resveratrol, an antioxidant, in Japanese Knotweed using capillary electrophoresis and gas chromatography mass spectrometry 2) chemical characterization of particulate matter associated with biodiesel and diesel exhaust. Several of Dr. Kraly's projects involve collaborations with other chemistry faculty as well as the Environmental Studies and Biology Departments.
