The Complete Metropolis with Alloy Orchestra
Silent Film with Live MusicInfo:
Roger Ebert has called Boston’s Alloy Orchestra “the best in the world at accompanying silent films.” This internationally-known trio bring their distinctive mix of clarinet, accordion, electronics, and junk metal percussion to The Complete Metropolis, a new restoration of Fritz Lang’s 1927 futuristic epic. A.O. Scott, of The New York Times, calls the film “a masterpiece of visionary silent cinema. … Just about every science-fiction movie you can think of pays tribute to its influence, but to date none has matched its strangeness or its prophetic power.”
The KSC Film Society will host a silent-film series January 28-31. For a screening schedule, visit http://www.keene.edu/putnam/
