Keene State College senior Dana Angellis has spent the past two summers working as an intern with the Peterborough Players, a renowned organization that has brought professional summer theatre to the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire since 1933. In her two years with the Peterborough Players, Angellis has been involved in all facets of the productions from building sets to working on the shows, handling the light and sound boards, and working back stage coordinating scenery and props.

Angellis, a versatile and energetic Theatre and Dance major from Nashua, NH, is adding to her experience this summer by interning in stage management. After her initial stage freight, Angellis says she now feels comfortable working with the talented thespian ensemble. “I am learning so much because it’s an educational facility and people are constantly helping me,” said Angellis. “I am learning to communicate in new ways, improvise and think on my toes. I’m doing something different every day.”

Angellis, who got the theatre bug at an early age after watching a production of Godspell, served two terms as president of the Nashua North Drama Club and spent her summers working with the Peacock Players, a youth theatre and camp in Nashua. Always looking for an opportunity to learn, Angellis found out about the internship with Peterborough Players online, and landed the position after interviewing with KSC Theatre and Dance Lecturer Keith Stevens, the managing director of the Players.

Angellis will remain busy once she returns to campus this fall. In addition to an assortment of theatre courses, she will also take two dance classes and serve as the stage manager for the play The Shapes of Things.

“Keene State provided me with the classroom experience, and Peterborough Players provides me with the hands-on experience,” said Angellis. She plans to use the combination of her work in the classroom and with the Peterborough Players to help her land a job when she graduates in May next year.
