Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys get the under-10 crowd and their families moving and clapping to the music at their packed shows. They have become local rock stars to the young and young at heart and fans cannot get enough of their award-winning CDs. As a complement to her career as a professional musician, Vanessa Trien has made a point of sharing her love of music through teaching and performing for primary and elementary school-aged children.

As Boston Children’s Music puts it, “Vanessa’s shows are perfect. It’s hard to explain and I can’t quite put my finger on what it is they do differently, but whatever it is, it really gets the kids (and parents) excited!…She has some sort of magical energy that makes all of her shows super fun…”.

Vanessa Trien will offer a workshop for the children of the Child Development Center at Keene State College on Friday, February 27. Additionally, the artists will join audience members after the February 28 concert in the Main lobby for a post-show reception and meet and greet. Enjoy some cookies and lemonade while making musical egg shakers with Vanessa Trien and her band following the show.

About Redfern Arts Center at Keene State College

The Arts Center is named in honor of Dr. Leo F. Redfern, Keene State College President from 1969 to 1979 for his vision, commitment, and eloquence on behalf of the arts that made funding and construction of the facility a reality. In 1981, KSC inaugurated this new performing arts center, with the goal of providing unforgettable artistic encounters for the campus and community. Now in its 33rd year, the Redfern Arts Center presents and fosters dynamic, multifaceted arts experiences through performances, residencies, and related programs that deepen the connection between the arts and audiences, both from the campus and the greater Monadnock region.
