The Carnegie Foundation—and the Union Leader—Recognize KSC

Keene State takes its motto, “Enter to learn … go forth to serve,” pretty seriously. Our students, faculty, and staff are committed to community service and making a positive difference in the world. Each year, our students give 75,000 hours of volunteer service to the community—service that’s valued at $1.7 million. That’s $1.7 million, and that’s per year. And that’s not peanuts.

In recognition, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching awarded KSC the 2015 Community Engagement Classification, and we’re the only college or university in New Hampshire to receive the designation this year. In fact, we’re one out of four higher education institutions in New Hampshire to ever be selected for the classification since it started in 2006. KSC received this recognition in 2006 as well.

“It’s really about the engagement with the institution with the community and the students through those learning practices and that really is what Keene State is all about,” explained KSC President Anne Huot.
