Keene State College's Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies Sponsors Teacher Workshop in Holocaust Education

“Echoes and Reflections” Workshop Held on November 16

Keene, NH, October 27, 2011: Keene State College’s Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies is sponsoring an introductory workshop for teachers of middle and high school students, to help advance Holocaust education through the use of multimedia curriculum. Glenda McFadden, Cohen Center Fellow, Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) Lerner Fellow, and JFR Goldman Award winner for Excellence in Holocaust Education, will facilitate the session.

Award-winning multimedia curriculum created by the Anti-Defamation League, USC Shoah Foundation Institute, and Yad Vashem provides opportunities for accurate and authentic Holocaust education. Lessons, primary source materials, and testimony from survivors, rescuers, and liberators all serve to help change how students feel about the importance of studying the Holocaust and help them to challenge racism in their own lives. More information about the curriculum can be found at www.echoesandreflections.org.

The workshop will be held on November 16 from 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the National Education Association-NH - 9 South Spring Street, Concord, NH 03301. Registration deadline is Tuesday, November 1, 2011. For more information and to register for the workshop, contact Michele Kuiawa at 603-358-2490 or via email at mkuiawa@keene.edu.

The Cohen Center is an Echoes and Reflections approved training center.
