Background:

Marie Curie conducted scientific investigations that led to the discovery of two elements, polonium and radium. She also is responsible for our understanding of radioactivity and ultimately the use of radium in therapy against cancer. This program honors all dimensions of Madame Marie Curie - as a preeminent woman of science, a woman of Polish descent, her ethic of scientific altruism, and her life as a wife and mother.

“Manya: A Living History of Marie Curie” is a two-hour, full-length adult program set in the year 1915. Wrapped in a context of the outset of the Great War, this program spans childhood memories, romance, scientific discoveries, honors, the disruptions incurred by fame, pain from the loss of her husband, and her emergence after the loss.
