Keene State College Honors Don Hayes, JoBeth Mullens, and Robert M. Rooney Sr.

KEENE, NH 10/11/06 - Keene State College will honor academic excellence and outstanding service at the Fall Honors Convocation on Sun., Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. in the Spaulding Gym.

Among the awards presented will be the Community Service Award, honoring a KSC staff or faculty member for enhancing the quality of life within his or her community; the KSC Alumni Association Distinguished Teacher Award, honoring teaching excellence; and the Granite State Award, conferred by the Board of Trustees of the University System of New Hampshire to honor persons with outstanding community achievements.

Don Hayes, KSC Coordinator of Community Service from 1992 until his retirement this past June, will receive the Community Service Award, and Dr. JoBeth Mullens, professor and chair of the Geography Department, will receive the 2006 Distinguished Teacher Award.

Robert M. Rooney Sr. will receive the Granite State Award. He chairs the Cheshire Health Foundation/Cheshire Medical Center (CMC) Board of Trustees and has served on the boards of Home Healthcare, Hospice, and Community Services; Rise for Baby and Family; Business Leaders Advisory Board; Monadnock Family Services; and the Monadnock United Way. Rooney retired from Timken Aerospace and Super Precision (formerly MPB Corporation) in 2003.
