Registration Opens for September Courses at Region I OSHA Education Center

KEENE, N.H. 8/11/06 - Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, Manchester, N.H., is accepting registrations for nine September courses. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.

Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (510) for private-sector personnel covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, and construction safety and health principles. Upon successful course completion, students receive a 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Outreach card. The Sept. 17-20 course runs in Manchester, N.H.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (500) qualifies students to become authorized OSHA 10- and 30-hour construction outreach trainers. Bidding contractors and construction workers often must possess a minimum of an OSHA 10-hour Construction Outreach card. The course is scheduled for Sept. 24-27 in Manchester, N.H.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (501) is designed for personnel in the private sector interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour general industry safety and health outreach program. Prerequisites are Course 511 or equivalent and five years of general industry safety experience. Your résumé and a copy of your Course 511 card are required at registration. Running Sept. 24-27, the course is taught in Manchester, N.H.

Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers (502), for personnel in the private sector who completed Course 500 and are active trainers in the outreach program, provides an update on such topics as OSHA construction standards, policies, and regulations. The Sept. 17-19 course ends Wednesday by noon and is scheduled in Manchester, N.H.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (503), for private-sector personnel who completed Course 501 and are active trainers in the outreach program, provides an update on OSHA general industry standards and OSHA policies. The Sept. 19-21 course runs in Manchester, N.H

Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (511) for private-sector personnel covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, and general industry safety and health principles. After successfully completing the course, students receive an OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Safety and Health Outreach card. Running Sept. 17-20, the course is in Manchester, N.H.

Hazardous Materials (2015) covers OSHA general industry standards. Integrating materials from other consensus and proprietary standards relating to hazardous materials, flammable and combustible liquids, compressed gases, LP gases, and cryogenic liquids are discussed. The Sept. 24-27 course is planned for Manchester, N.H.

Fall Arrest Systems (3110) reviews state-of-the-art technology for fall protection and current OSHA requirements including principles of fall protection, components of fall arrest systems, limitations of fall arrest equipment, and OSHA policies regarding fall protection. The course has a one-day field exercise demonstrating fall protection equipment. Running Sept. 11-14, the course is taught in Manchester, N.H.

Ten-Hour Outreach Course in OSHA’s Construction Safety and Health Standards (NCSH 310) is an interactive course designed to introduce construction managers and employees to construction hazard recognition and control and OSHA policies, procedures, and standards. Successful completion of the course earns participants an OSHA construction safety and health 10-hour outreach course completion card. The Sept. 13-14 course is held in Lawrence, Mass. The Sept. 29, 11-hour course is held in West Haven, Conn.

Per-person tuition for OSHA courses is: 500, 501, and 2015, $775; 511 and 510, $725; 502 and 503, $675; 3110, $615; and NCSH 310, $275. Group discounts for five or more students to attend one course are available, as is on-site training for groups of at least 10 or more participants.
