Mozart's Birth Celebrated in KSC Faculty Recital

KEENE, N.H. 3/24/06 - The 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birth will be the focus of the Keene State College Faculty Artists’ Recital at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, in the Alumni Recital Hall of the Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond. Tickets are $7 for the general public and $5 for KSC students, senior citizens, and youth age 17 or younger. Call the box office at 603-358-2168.

Faculty artists to perform include Marcia Lehninger, violin; Joseph Darby, viola; Diane Cushing, soprano; Pamela Stevens, mezzo-soprano; Elizabeth Blood, piano; George Loring, piano; Sussan Henkel, oboe; Thomas Souza, clarinet; Karen Horton, horn; and Joy Flemming, bassoon.

From Sonata in B-flat Major for violin and piano (K. 378), Lehninger, violin, and Blood, piano, will perform “Allegro moderato,” “Andantino sostenuto e cantabile,” and “Rondo: Allegro.”

With Loring on piano, Souza on clarinet, and Darby on viola, “Andante,” “Menuetto,” and “Rondo: Allegretto” from Trio in E-flat Major for piano, clarinet, and viola (K. 498) will also be performed.

Cushing and Stevens will sing a variety of arias and duets, with Blood accompanying on piano.

From Quintet in E-flat Major for piano, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon (K. 452), the pieces “Largo - Allegro moderato,” “Larghetto,” and “Rondo: Allegretto” will be performed by Loring, piano; Henkel, oboe; Souza, clarinet; Horton, horn; and Flemming, bassoon.
