Trio Performs Contrasting Styles at KSC Faculty Recital

KEENE, N.H. 3/29/06 - Contrasting musical styles performed on piano, cello, and violin will mark the spring semester’s final Faculty Artists’ Recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, in the Alumni Recital Hall of the Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond. Tickets are $7 for the general public and $5 for KSC students, senior citizens, and youth age 17 or younger. Call the box office at 603-358-2168.

The Piano Trio consists of KSC faculty music artists Maura Glennon, piano, and Kathy Andrew, violin, and Brattleboro Music School faculty member Judith Serkin on cello. They will perform pieces by Dvorak, Mozart, and Turina. “These pieces are not performed very often, so we have all been eager to study and play them together. They represent three contrasting styles of music, since the composers lived at different times in various parts of the world,” Glennon said.

Glennon and Andrew have performed two recitals for piano and violin this year, but this will be their first concert as a trio with Serkin. “The three of us have been trying to play a concert together for quite some time now, since we are all living and working in this area. We are excited to have this opportunity to work together and perform these beautiful pieces for the audience at KSC,” said Andrew. “We are very pleased to have Judith playing with us for this concert.”

Located off Wyman Way, the Redfern Arts Center is accessible to people with disabilities. To request accommodations for a disability, please call the box office, 603-358-2168, at least two weeks before the recital.
