Women Composers Take Center Stage at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. 2/10/06 - Dr. Nancy Boston, pianist, will perform “American Women: Modern Voices in Piano Music,” works by women composers, on Monday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alumni Recital Hall of the Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond at Keene State. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Box Office at 603-358-2168.

The program will include pieces by Nancy Bloomer Deussen, Nancy Galbraith, Judith Lang Zaimont, Beata Moon, Beth Anderson, and Emma Lou Diemer. The composers’ styles range from highly rhythmic and dramatic to more accessible and familiar. All composers are accomplished artists, lauded by both critics and audiences.

Dr. Boston, a prolific performer, has appeared in concerts throughout the United States, as well as in France, Italy, Russia, and Canada. She has done extensive study in the area of music by women composers, and has given numerous solo and chamber programs featuring these composers, as well as the standard piano repertoire.
