Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resistance
This event is a part of an international day of remembrance and resistance. Transgender Day of Remembrance occurs annually every November 20th to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the transgender community. We will have speakers to discuss transgender issues in current terms, as well as contextualize the past and look to the future of this community.
We will start in the Madison Street Lounge and then move outside onto the Student Center lawn to hold a candlelight vigil. We will be inviting all attendees to take part in reading the names of all transgender individuals in the US that have been murdered as a result of transphobia in the last year. We also welcome anyone that would like to join us back inside post vigil to debrief on the evening and get more information about how to resist transphobia and support the transgender community.
