Equality through harmony: An in depth presentation on achieving global harmony through equality

Alumni Center - Centennial Hall
Tuesday, · -

Come hear Nascreen Shekh discuss how she has worked in Nepal to address issues of child labor, forced marriage and human rights violations.

Nascreen is from a very small village on the border of India and Nepal. She ran away from home, learned to sew at the age of 9 or 10 and worked as a child laborer. When she was 16, she started Local Women's Handcrafts, an all-women's sewing collective in Kathmandu Nepal focused on skills training for women seeking independence and self-reliance.

In 2015, she visited the United States and founded L.O.C,W.O.M., a non-profit organization. She has lived a life of service to humanity and has committed to start speaking about her experiences and projects in a public forum.

"I really would just like the chance to share my story with people in hope that I can bring attention to the human rights violations happening all around the world against women and children and present a possible solution to these issues."
