Brian Ulrich, Artist Lecture
Artist Brian Ulrich will be lecturing about his work on April 10th at 7pm in the Putnam Theater. Ulrich’s work examines the themes of US consumerism and the decline of American industry through large-scale color photographs and found materials.
Brian Ulrich is an Assistant Professor of Photography at Virginia Commonwealth University and was the recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in 2009. His work has been exhibited and reviewed internationally and his recent solo exhibitions include: the Haggerty Museum in Milwaukee, the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art. His work has been written about and featured in numerous publications including: Art Forum, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, NY Times Magazine, Art In America and the New Yorker. Some of the institutions that have collected Mr. Ulrich’s work include: the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the J. Paul Getty Museum and the Milwaukee Art Museum.
