25th Annual Mason Library Lecture - The Islamic book from Paper to Calligraphy

Art historians Jonathan Bloom and Shelia Blair, professors of Islamic and Asian Art at Boston College, will collaborate on a joint presentation. Dr. Bloom will speak on the history of paper and how the Islamic lands were responsible for the transfer of paper-making technology from China to Europe; Dr. Blair will discuss the art of writing in Islam and how calligraphy has played such an important role in Islamic civilization.
