A Momentous Thank-You

Thank you, thank you, thank you! That was the message students sent to donors at the annual Momentum celebration October 18.

Each year, Keene State students are supported with $850,000 in annually funded and endowed scholarship funds thanks to generous donors. What does that mean for individual students? Financial assistance that makes it possible for them to complete their education and also take part in community projects, undergraduate research, internships, and study-away opportunities.

This year’s Celebrate Momentum gathering, held in the L. P. Young Student Center, brought together 140 donors to the College with students, parents, Keene State staff, and President Melinda Treadwell ’90. Student scholarship recipients took the opportunity to personally thank people who contributed to the scholarship funds, and seniors Jeniffer Afualo-Robinson and Kirsten Becker, spoke to the group about the difference the assistance had made for them.

In addition, the Momentum-goers were treated to performances by students who are majoring in music: sisters Kirsten and Alyssa Becker played piano and classical guitar, respectively.

The Keene Endowment Association has worked for more than 62 years to raise and manage endowed gifts to the College. These funds are invested in perpetuity by the Trustees of the association, and the income is used for the benefit of students and academic programs in accordance with the donors’ wishes.
