New Owls Share Their Feelings About Keene State in One Word

As new students join us this month for Owl Orientation, some took the opportunity to share how they feel about coming to Keene State this fall. Owl Orientation is an opportunity for incoming students to meet their classmates and make friends, get comfortable on campus, and become familiar with what being a college student is really like.

We asked incoming first-year students to pick one word to describe the emotion they’re having as they get ready to embark on four years of college.

Jenna Salvatore (with mom) from Richmond, MA, is “excited” to start college this fall! She’s planning to major in early childhood education.

Daniel Smith is “ecstatic” to study computer science and cybersecurity at Keene State! He’s from Middletown, CT.

Lily Monahan is looking forward to the “connections” she’ll make with new friends and mentors. The Lancaster, NH, native plans to combine music and psychology for a music therapy degree.

Brendan Muse can’t wait to hit the slopes when “snow” returns this winter! He’s from Sparta, NJ, and will be majoring in architecture

“Overjoyed” is how Madison Dowling from Warwick, RI, describes how she feels about starting college at Keene State. She’ll be studying safety and occupational health applied sciences.

Future business management major Christopher Wilson feels “relieved” about coming to Keene State. He’s joining is sister, sophomore Kaitlyn Wilson, both from Salem, NH.

Sammy Bush, from Amherst, MA, is “excited” to join the film studies department this fall!


Hailey Derosia

Hailey Derosia (and mom, Kelly) are “fired up!” Hailey is from Vernon, VT, and plans to major in early childhood education.


Kyle Murdock

Kyle Murdock from Granby, MA, is “eager” to get started with exercise science at Keene State!


Sophia Peebles

Sophia Peebles is feeling “nervous” about coming to Keene State, but the Nashua, NH, native will find a supportive and welcoming home as a pre-veterinary student.


Hayden Britton

“Fantastic” is the word that comes to mind for Hayden Britton (with dad, Ray). He’s from Gilsum, NH, and plans to major in architecture.


Sarah Bialkin

Sarah Bialkin from Worcester, MA, will be majoring in exercise science. She’s feeling “anxious,” but hopefully she’ll soon feel right at home at Keene State this fall!
