Requiring masks in classrooms for first two weeks of Spring Semester

Greetings to all students, faculty, and staff:

As we eagerly anticipate our students’ return to campus for Spring 2023, we are also attending to the region’s COVID, flu, and RSV rates, which remain elevated.

To support a healthy re-entry to campus and to do all we can to ensure a smooth semester all the way through to a wonderful in-person Commencement in May, we are requiring masks in classrooms for the first two weeks of the spring term. This requirement recognizes that students, faculty, and staff are required to attend class and that our classes require extended time in close contact. Masks will limit risks for all community members and are available free in a central location in each KSC classroom building (see below for list). We will reassess this decision on January 31st and communicate to the campus about future precautions, if any.

Some other items to keep in mind:

We encourage you to test before returning to campus and again the week after you arrive.

If you test positive, submit your test results here and someone from the Rapid Response Team will reach out to you with guidance.

If you are symptom-free on day 5 you may opt to test out of isolation by taking a COVID test on day 6 or later. If the test is negative, you are free to resume normal activities on Campus but must wear a mask around others for the full 10 days. You do not need to submit the test results from your “test-out”, but please wait until the test is negative, or until 10 full days of isolation have passed to return to campus.

Our walk-in testing center at 115 Winchester will not be open this semester. Antigen tests are available in the entranceway to Mason Library.

If you have any questions, refer to our FAQ page or contact covidinfo@keene.edu.

I am very proud of our proactive response to keeping the community as healthy as possible. Thank you for your continued care for one another.

In gratitude,
