Flu, covid and other respiratory illness on campus

Good morning!

Upper respiratory illness is increasing both on campus and in the region. KSC’s covid cases jumped up to 18 last week, after several weeks in the single digits. Flu, RSV, and other illness is widespread in the region and causing significant illness on campus.

To increase your chance of staying healthy for finals week and the holidays, consider the following:

  • Stay home if you are feeling sick and use an at-home test to test for covid. If your test was negative, please test again on day 4 of symptoms. *If you are in need of a covid-19 test, you can pick one up in the library atrium as supplies last
  • When around other people, PLEASE MASK while experiencing symptoms of illness, even if your covid test was negative. Masks reduce the spread of other upper respiratory illness too.
  • Consider masking in crowded, indoor settings for the next couple of weeks, even when healthy. This is an easy and effective way to reduce your risk of respiratory illness.
  • It is not too late to get vaccinated for flu and/or covid! Vaccines are available at your PCP office, area urgent cares including Convenient MD, or at our local Walgreens, Rite Aid, or CVS pharmacies at little to no cost.
  • If you are a student and would like to speak to a healthcare provider, please contact the Wellness Center at 603-358-2200

Do your best to eat well, get a good night’s sleep, and take time for relaxation. Stop by the Student Center on Reading Day (Dec 12) from 11AM-1PM for the Wellness Center’s annual Relaxation Break for healthy snacks, stress balls, chocolate meditation, crafts, and more! We wish you the best for a healthy and strong closing of the Fall 2022 semester!

Best wishes,

The Covid Leadership team
