Holly Near with John Bucchino

Folk musician, songwriter, and activist, Holly Near performs in concert with John Bucchino, an award-winning American composer, lyricist, and pianist.

Holly Near is a singer-songwriter building on 40 creative years with 30 recordings. Holly is also a spokeswoman within the social change music movement and one of the founders of the Women’s Music Movement. She is known for her activism towards peace, justice, and feminism, as well as her celebration of the human spirit and humanity. Her music fully engages listeners in the world around them.

This free concert is sponsored by the Keene State College Diversity and Multiculturalism Office in collaboration with the Colonial Theatre, the Redfern Arts Center, the Monadnock Fall Festival and Keene Music Festival.

This event is the second in a series called "Our Beloved Community." The first event is a reading of excerpts from Karen Hesse’s book Witness at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 1, at the United Church of Christ. It will also include music by local school children and the Chamber Singers of Keene, directed by Matthew Leese.
