Nate Flyzik

Nate Flyzik
Nate Flyzik

Hi everyone! My name is Nate and I will be a Senior here at Keene State College. I am majoring in Communications and History, with goals to work in Higher Education Administration some day. As an Orientation Coordinator this year, the staff and myself are beyond excited to have you all here at Keene State!

One interesting fact about me is that I am a twin! Technically he is one minute older than I am, but it doesn’t matter because I obviously got the looks of the family. When I’m not hiking, I’m usually hanging out with friends and playing basketball. On campus I work in the library and I am also involved with the Ultimate Frisbee team. There are many opportunities to get involved on campus, I am excited for you all to get involved with what you love!

Keene State is a close-knit community with people who amaze and inspire. One of the main reasons I chose Keene State was because of the people. Staff, Faculty, and Students all want to see you succeed from the moment you enter campus, to the moment you leave. When I came to Keene I found a home and friends that I will certainly have for a lifetime, I hope you all find that too. Congratulations on choosing Keene as your next step in life, I can’t wait to see you all on campus for Owl Orientation!!

Sydney McGough

Sydney McGough
Sydney McGough

Hey everyone! My name is Sydney and I am a senior here at Keene State College. I am a nursing major with a minor in biology, and I am a member of the school’s swim team. I am very excited to be working as a coordinator this year and I can’t wait to show you, with the help of our awesome staff, what Keene State is all about!

One really cool thing I’ve done in my time at Keene is going to Nepal as a part of the Global Engagement course. For a month I volunteered, toured, and studied the culture of Nepal. I saw Mount Everest, a traditional Magar village, and Buddha’s birthplace. Keene has given me the experience of a lifetime and I am so thankful for it!

The Keene State community is one that I am so happy to be a part of, and also one of the main reasons I came here. I have made friends that will last a lifetime, made connections with professors in my field of study, and have had so many amazing opportunities as a student here. We all are so excited to have you as a part of the incoming class and can’t wait to share our favorite parts of Keene with all of you!

Here at Keene State I’ve found amazing people in a number of communities ranging from Greek Life to ResLife. Keene has plenty of activities here on campus so you’ll always find your place doing something you love and with a community like Keene State you can’t go wrong.

With that, I am very excited to meet you all! I can’t wait to begin a new and exciting year, and feel free to say hi! We have plenty of great things in store for you all, so I hope you’re as excited as I am! See you guys soon.

Hello everyone!! My name is Isabelle, I’m a junior here at Keene State, and I am so excited to be an orientation leader for the second year in a row! I’m from Fitzwilliam NH and I’m a double major in English Literature, Political Science, with a minor in International Relations. I am a member of the Honors Program on campus and I hold multiple positions within my sorority! I’m always trying to stay involved! When I’m not studying I’m either dancing, singing, hanging out with my two wonderful black labs, hanging out with my Greek Life friends, or hammocking with a great book.

I’m so happy to be your orientation leader and I can’t wait to show you why Keene State is the best school around! This school will offer you amazing opportunities every single day. I love it here and I know you will too! It’s always a great day to be an owl! John Budenas

John Budenas
John Budenas

Hey! I’m John, and I’m going to be a senior here at Keene State! I can’t believe it is already my 3rd year on O-Staff, I am so pumped to see what my last year has in store for me. Originally born and raised in Greater Boston, my family moved to Wilton, NH almost 2 years ago! I am a Journalism major with a focus in Public Relations, I hope to go into the music industry when I get out of college! Speaking of music, I’m always catching shows and going to concerts in my spare time, it’s one of my favorite things to do. I actually was lucky enough to be apart of the street team for Boston Calling Music Festival this year, which only a handful of people across the nation got to do! I’m involved with WKNH here where I host my own radio show every week and I am also in Greek Life here at KSC.

One of the best things about Keene State College is the strong sense of community as an institution and the sense of pride when walking through parts of Keene, since there is such a strong bond between the outside community and the college. I am incredibly excited to see what the summer holds and to meet all of you guys and show you all the great things that this school had to offer and more! Go owls!

Morgan Chantler

Morgan Chantler
Morgan Chantler

Hi, my name is Morgan and I am Junior here at Keene State. I am double majoring in Earth Space Sciences and Secondary Education with a minor in Environmental Studies. I am from Merrimack, NH but was born in Florida.

This is my second year as an Orientation Leader and I cannot be more excited. I really enjoy Keene’s ability to have something for everyone, from Humans vs. Zombie’s to Jazz Band there is always something to do or watch. I am involved in Fair Trade Club, Eco-Reps, Tutoring, Student Gov, Ski and Snowboard club and lots of intramural teams. You can most likely find me eating grapefruit in the DC or destroying my friends in a game of chess.

I hope that you all find your passion here and a little extra on the way. Even though my least favorite color is red I can still say Keene is the home for me, I am always finding new things to do and meeting new people. I can’t wait to meet all you new owls! Now red is my second least favorite color.

Patrick Holden

Hi everyone! My name is Patrick and I’m one of the Cluster Leaders this year! This will be my second year as an Orientation Leader. I will be a senior this fall (wow yikes) and I’m currently dual majoring in Secondary Education and History. I’m also from Durham, Connecticut (aka Cow Town).

Outside of Orientation, I’m very active on campus throughout the year! I’m a member of Chock Full O’ Notes, Keene State’s only acapella group, of which I’m the Public Relations Director for and will also be the Music Director for starting in the fall. I’m involved in the Education Honor Society, or Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), and I’m also an ASPIRE Tutor and a member of Group Theatre, a student-run theatre group that puts on different shows throughout the year. I also work as a counselor at a theater camp in July!

Some fun facts about me: 1) I’m obsessed with Game of Thrones; 2) I have performed on the same stage that NSYNC once performed on; and 3) I just finished studying abroad in Galway, Ireland! Be ready for me to obnoxiously show a ton of pictures of my adventures over there.

I’m so excited to meet all of you when you finally come here this summer! Keene is an absolutely amazing place and I can’t wait to share my love for this school and community with all of you! Welcome to Keene, everyone!

I am currently dual majoring in Elementary Education and History with a minor in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Keene State has become my second home over the past two years. I fell in love with this campus the moment I stepped onto it. It’s beautiful, and the people are outstanding. Keene State provides its students with some amazing education programs where any student can thrive.

Some of my favorite hobbies are playing video games and watching sports. I love to watch professional baseball and hockey along with college football. One of my favorite times of the year when it comes to sports is March Madness. I’m involved with multiple clubs on campus such as Owl Nation and Big Brothers Big Sisters. There’s a numerous amount of clubs here at Keene State and getting involved here makes the experience even better.

I’m super excited to meet you all here this upcoming summer! Keene State has become my second home and I’m exhilarated to show you how it can become your second home too! Welcome to Keene State!

Being involved with these programs has given me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful faculty and students! There is really never a dull moment being here at Keene State.

Being in Keene has been a blessing to me because of all of the resources and opportunities that are given here. Everyone here just wants you to be the best you can be mentally and physically! Hello, I am Alden and I am so excited to be an orientation leader for the incoming class! I am studying Computer Science. I am apart of a few clubs such as the Ultimate Frisbee Team, Math Club, I also play for the local Men’s ice hockey team. I grew up in a small town called Halifax, Massachusetts. Keene State College is the only school I applied to because I knew it was the one I wanted to go to after I toured it for the first time.

Some of my hobbies consist of playing hockey, playing video games, throwing the Frisbee with anyone who is willing to, never leaving the dining commons, doing homework/studying in the library, and going to the sports events on campus and watching my friends play. I am very grateful for the opportunities that this school provides for me and I cant wait to share that with all of you. I assure you that you will feel at home and welcomed at Keene State College.

I am so glad you have made Keene State your home for a little bit and I want to do everything I can to make the transition as easy and stress free as possible.

I live in Salem, New Hampshire, a small town right on the border of Massachusetts and where Canobie Lake Park is. I am so thankful I found a college I love in my home state.

I love to be active and I have the chance here where I am part of the Keene State Dance Team and get to travel with them to Disney to compete in Nationals! You could also find me in the gym working out, in the library or Student Center doing homework or in the DC hanging out with friends.

I’m so glad that you have chosen Keene to be your home away from home and I can’t wait to see you here for Owl Orientation!

I am double majoring in Secondary Education and Mathematics with a minor in Psychology. This is my first year being an orientation leader and I am so excited to meet you all!

When I am not in class I enjoy playing soccer, cooking, drawing, and hanging out with friends and family. I have horses and enjoy spending time at my house with them. When I can, I work at a local diner near my house.

I chose Keene State because it is close to home for me. I loved the smaller population and the rural atmosphere. Keene State has a great education program which was perfect for me. Everyone here was so welcoming and helpful. Its such a beautiful place.

I am so excited to be an orientation leader and share the many wonderful things about Keene State College with all of you!

Hey everyone! My name is Brianna and I will be a senior coming up this fall! (And yes, that is terrifying to think about!) This will be my second year being an orientation leader and I am so pumped to be involved with such an awesome program again! I am a American studies major.

Keeping myself busy is easy here at Keene because there are tons of different activities and organizations to be a part of. Some of the things that I use my time with is being a tour guide on campus (I may have given you your tour; It all comes full circle), also I am in the Fair-Trade club. When I am not doing any of that you can probably find me at bingo or one of the late-night programs at the Student Center or at one of the awesome programs put on by Residential Life.

Keene State was my first choice when deciding on college and I still love it just as much as I did when I came for my first tour here. I cannot wait to show you all what KSC is all about! I am excited to meet you!

Bryce Jones

Bryce Jones
Bryce Jones

Hello everyone! My name is Bryce and I am thrilled to be a Keene State College Orientation Leader! I am honored to say this will be my second year on this staff as an Orientation Leader and am so excited to welcome every one of you to Keene State College.

I’m starting my junior year here at K.S.C. and I am a Music Education major. Outside of my crazy academic schedule I am a part of the Keene State Concert Band and Flute Ensemble. I am also the Public Relations officer for our Keene State NAfME, National Association for Music Education, chapter.

I am so excited to help you all through this orientation process and start your year here at K.S.C.! You should all be looking forward to meeting new people and finding new friends here through orientation, I met my best friend during orientation and we have been inseparable ever since.

Outside of my musical life and career I love spending time with my dog, Ginger, and giving her lots of hugs and kisses. I find animals and music to be very therapeutic which is why they are my whole world. I always say if something isn’t fun you can find a way to implicate music to make it better.

The main reason I chose Keene State College was because of the people here on campus. There was never a time where I felt alone or by myself while I was here and while I was going through this orientation process myself. I hope I can make you feel the same. I can’t wait to help you all begin your journey here at Keene State!

Caitlin McCracken

Caitlin McCracken
Caitlin McCracken

Hey, my name is Caitlin. I will be a sophomore in the fall, and double majoring in Elementary Education and General Science. I am from Alton Bay, New Hampshire, which is about an hour and a half from campus…up at the Big Lake, but I was born in Virginia at Langley Air Force Base. It is my first year as an Orientation Leader, and I am so excited to meet and welcome all of you to Keene State College!

When I was first looking at KSC, I was worried that it was too close to home and that my family would come and visit me too much, but they have been pretty good so far. However, I enjoy being relatively close to home, so that if I ever need or want to go home, I can easily do so. While touring Keene State, I discovered the sense of community that it brings along with an education. This was one of the deciding factors as to why I chose to attend Keene, that and the amazing Department of Education, which works directly with the state to ensure that Education majors graduate with the requirements needed in order to teach in New Hampshire.

During my first year, I started off easy by just trying to get situated into the new environment that is Keene State. After being comfortable in my classes, meeting people, and making friends, I found myself a job at the Hannaford in town. I find that having a job and balancing classes is rather easy for me, and it helps keep me busy. Whenever I am not at work or in class, you can find me hanging out with friends or watching Netflix. I cannot wait to see and meet you, and I look forward to helping you feel at home at Keene State College.

Carly Zuppe

Carly Zuppe
Carly Zuppe

Hi Everyone! My name is Carly, I’m a senior at Keene State majoring in exercise science and minoring in biology. I chose Keene State for the people and the welcoming atmosphere. This campus has incredible school spirit- which is something I was looking for. My family fell in love with all of the local businesses in downtown Keene. It made all of us feel at home- and shortly after our tour, Keene became my actual home.

I like to stay busy by staying involved on campus! I spend a lot of my time with the Greek Life community on campus! This past year I held an E-Board position on the Panhellenic Council. I’m also a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa, the Human Performance and Movement Sciences Honors Society. This Spring semester I had my first internship at Body Works Keene Recreation Center as a personal trainer! I got to learn a lot about working individually with clients and maintaining equipment. It has been an amazing experience that will definitely benefit me beyond my time at Keene State.

After my last year at Keene State is over, I plan on continuing my education and pursuing a doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Caroline Hentz

Caroline Hentz
Caroline Hentz

Hello, incoming Owls! My name is Caroline and I will be a junior this fall. I am a Theatre Major with specializations in Acting and Directing.

I am originally from Harvard, Massachusetts (not the school, but rather a small town around 45 minutes west of Harvard University). Growing up in such a small town meant that I knew just about everyone in my town, which is why I chose Keene, because of its amazing sense of community. I have been involved in several Theatre and Dance performances working in The Butterfly’s Evil Spell, A Dream Play, and No Zebras No Excuses. I am also the secretary for the Theatre and Dance honors society, Alpha Psi Omega! I love hanging out with my friends, taking photos, and eating Sizzlers from the Night Owl Café!

I am excited to aid the new students in their transition into Keene State College because, trust me, it can be hectic and nerve-racking. My goal for orientation this year is to encourage the new students to put themselves out there and try things that they never thought they’d try - after all, isn’t that what college is all about? I look forward to a fantastic Orientation 2019!

Charlotte Planeta

Charlotte Planeta
Charlotte Planeta

Hi everyone! My name is Charlotte, I will be a sophomore this year at Keene, and I am from Durham, CT. I am a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology. I am involved with Keene’s Alternative break program, where I was given the opportunity to travel to Memphis, TN to volunteer at a local children’s hospital. I’m also a tour guide for the admissions department, I was the president of my high school DECA chapter and I figure skated competitively for over 10 years.

I chose Keene State because of the feeling I got from the campus and the students. Everyone here feels like one big family and Keene is just the right size where I can count on seeing a familiar face, but there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people. I look forward to meeting all of the new students at orientation this year!

Chris Stimson

Chris Stimson
Chris Stimson

Hi everyone! My name is Chris and I am a sophomore at KSC. I am a Music Composition major with a minor in Psychology. I grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Conard High School. I am also an Eagle Scout from Troop 163 in my hometown. I hope to one day write pieces that can move people on a deep emotional level and teach a high school band or orchestra.

When I first set eyes on KSC, it was a happy accident, and coming here was one of the best decisions of my life. One of the things that certainly caught my eye was the fabulous music department. As a multi-instrumentalist playing in various groups in high school ranging from rock to jazz, a strong music department was very important to me, not to mention the amazing psychology department as well. The downtown also reminds of the center back home. Make sure to hit Local Burger!

Orientation was such an inviting and informative experience for me and I am so excited to pass on that welcoming wisdom. See you soon and welcome to Keene State College!

Colette Rinker

Colette Rinker
Colette Rinker

Hi there! My name is Colette and I am going to be a sophomore here at Keene State. I am currently majoring in Communications, and I hope to add a German minor during my time here! I’m from right here in Keene, NH so if you want to know the best coffee shop in town I’m your go-to! Outside of classes, I am a DJ for our campus radio station WKNH Keene, give tours for Admissions, and I am a part of the Vocal Consort ensemble through the music department. This is also my first year on orientation staff! In my free time, I enjoy playing piano, hanging out in the DC with friends, or relaxing in my dorm room with a good book.

I am so glad to have made the decision to go to Keene State because it is such a wonderful place to be. The sense of community here is one of the main reasons why I chose to come to Keene, and I can’t wait to share that experience with you during Owl Orientation! I am so excited to meet you and help you make the transition to college, and I’m happy to be a part of your first memories here.

Welcome home, Owls!

I am very obviously a movie fan, so if you love anything from Star Wars to some obscure indie flick, I am your guy to talk to! You can find me performing with Keene State’s only acapella choir, Chock Full of Notes, or at the Putnam Theater checking out the newest screenings on campus.

I can’t wait to get to know you all at this exciting point in your lives. Keene State was the perfect fit for my needs coming from a small community and I really feel like I found my tribe here. Congratulations on becoming an Owl!

I am an International student from Scotland, UK and I major in Critical Film Studies with a minor in English Literature.

Coming here from so far away wasn’t easy but Keene State was so welcoming and made the process so easy, especially through orientation. I really want to use my experience of this to help other college students who might struggle with the process of leaving home, especially if it is from a further away place.

When I’m not in classes or working, you’ll probably find me hanging out with my friends in the student center or more than likely, downtown with them grabbing a coffee at Brewbakers- they do the best frozen mochas!

I’m super excited that you have chosen Keene State College for this exciting step in your future and I can’t wait to meet all of you and be a part of your experience here- it’s one you won’t regret!

Hey everyone! My name is Jaden, I am a Theatre and Dance major with a specialization in Acting and a Psychology major and I will be a sophomore in the upcoming semester! Jaime Showalter

Jaime Showalter
Jaime Showalter

Hi everyone! Congratulations on coming to Keene State, it’s a great school as I hope you will agree. But anyway, my name is Jaime and I’m from New Milford, Connecticut. I’m a sophomore and a double major in Elementary Education and Sociology with a minor in Psychology!

After taking a tour here, Keene State became my #1 school. I was then greeted with a positive and welcoming community of orientation programs and that’s when I decided to join the O-Staff myself. Now, after my first year at KSC, I know enough of the basics to teach you what I know and hopefully welcome you the same way I was when I was in your same shoes- well, not the same shoes because that would be weird, but you know what I mean.

Since coming here, I have joined Big Brothers Big Sisters and now the Orientation Leader staff. Two great opportunities and both have had the family away from home feel I desired!

I can’t wait to see all of you soon, and to welcome you to Keene State! I hope here at school you find the happiest times of your life, just like I did!

Jake Allen

Hi everyone! My name is Jake and I will be a Junior here at Keene State in the fall. I am pursuing a double major in Communications and Holocaust and Genocide Studies. I am from Canton, Connecticut. My hobbies include listening to and playing music, hiking, and watching baseball (especially the Red Sox).

I am looking forward to the opportunity of helping all of you feel at home here like I did when I first stepped onto the campus. There are many things to get excited about at Keene State, including all of the opportunities we have to get involved and how friendly and accepting everyone is. No matter what your hobbies are, you will find something you love to be a part of at Keene. I am a DJ on our campus radio station WKNH, so feel free to ask me any questions about how you can get involved!

I am proud to call Keene State my second home. I chose Keene State for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is the feeling I got here. Right when I stepped onto the campus, I felt welcomed, at home, and like I belonged here. I look forward to meeting you all!

Hi! My name is Jaymison, but you can just call me Jaymi. I’m a sophomore here at KSC. I’m from Lowell, Massachusetts and I’m studying Sociology with a minor in Women And Gender Studies. I also reside in Kennebunk, Maine during the summer. My plan is to become a human rights lawyer after college! A little fun fact about me is that I have a really boisterous laugh that you could hear from across campus if you try hard enough! I also enjoy all things musical and singing. You can always find me in the Redfern singing with my friends and concert choir or in the Student Center buying an iced green tea.

Here at KSC, I am a tour guide for Admissions. This gives me the opportunity to show what campus is really like to prospective students. I love the campus and atmosphere here at Keene. I have made some really great friends and I can’t wait to spend more semesters here with them. I hope I can show you what there is to love about Keene just as my O leader did. Keene is my home away from home and I hope you find it as special as I do!

I can’t wait to meet all of you and make some great memories this summer/ fall!!

The minute I stepped on campus for the first time I knew that I was meant to come to this amazing place. I am a double major in Criminal Justice and Sociology. I am also thinking about minoring in business management.

I am a member of the Keene State College Swim and Dive team. I have been competitively swimming for eleven years and I knew Keene was the place to continue my swimming career. I mainly swim the Breaststroke events but sometimes I will swim a 200 or 400 IM. I highly encourage joining, feel free to ask me any questions. I also look forward to meeting all the new and incoming students as they find a home at Keene State.

Hi everyone! My name is Karley and I will be a Senior this coming year at KSC! I am a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology. I am from the small town of Mendon, Massachusetts which is just 20 minutes away from Worcester.

I originally chose to attend Keene State because of how small and beautiful the campus is! The scenery here is beautiful all year round. I like how the class sizes are small enough for you to form connections with your professors. The professors here are so nice and truly care about your future!

I am a member of Keene State’s only A Capella group, Chock Full O’ Notes. I am also a part of Kappa Delta Pi, the Education honor society and Psi Chi, the Psychology honor society! I also had the chance to study abroad in England my sophomore year. Feel free to ask me any questions about that! I’m so excited to be apart of the 2019 Orientation Staff and can’t wait to help you through your exciting transition!

Outside of the classroom I am involved with Owl Nation and Big Brothers Big sisters. Both groups are so rewarding to be apart of and so fun and I would recommend it to anyone. Keene has so many different groups and opportunities to get involved with and I recommend that you do just that! Keene is a great school and I love it here because of all the wonderful people and great opportunities it gives everyone and I hope you love it here too!

Other things you could find me doing would be hanging with friends, watching Netflix, taking naps, listening to music, and the most common getting food or eating! I’m super excited to meet you all and help you begin your journey here at Keene State!

Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I am a sophomore here at Keene State. I have lived my whole life in Windham, New Hampshire and loved every minute of it. I am double majoring in Elementary Education and Women and Gender Studies. I am part of the Fishing Club here at Keene State and I am proud to say that I am one of the only girls on it but it is still so much fun with the guys.

Keene State College was my number 1 ever since the beginning of applying to schools. Right when I got accepted, all my worries went away, and I got excited for the next chapter of my life to start. I chose KSC because it immediately felt like my new home, everyone was so welcoming and inviting and it made the move into college so much easier. I did not want to go far away from home and I live only a bit over an hour away so if I want, I can always go home. There are so many opportunities and ways to get involved here, KSC makes it very easy to get out of your dorm room.

Congratulations on getting accepted and I hope you love Keene State as much as I do. I am so excited to meet all of you and help get you comfortable here at school.

Hello, and congratulations on becoming an Owl! I’m Maddie, a sophomore here at Keene State, and this is my first year on Orientation staff. I’m a Keene native so if you have any questions about my hometown, please ask! Additionally, I commute to campus and want to help other commuters have a relaxed, enjoyable transition into their college years, so please feel free to send any of your questions my way!

I’m currently pursuing a double major in Spanish and sociology with a concentration in social services and am in the process of declaring a minor in Psychology. My aspiration is to become a social worker within a public school, aiding both children and families who deserve a dedicated advocate. On campus, I’m involved with the Honors Program, participate in Greek life, and hold a position at the Redfern Arts Center as a technical assistant. In the community, I serve as the Social Media Coordinator for the Greater Keene Rotaract Club which is an extension of Rotary International designed for individuals aged 18 to 35. I also work at Ted’s Shoe and Sport in downtown Keene and MoCo Arts’ Creative Arts at Keene multi-arts summer camp. I’m a TV junkie whose greatest vice is any crime show in my free time…Criminal Minds being my favorite!

Outside of classes I participate in theatre productions as well as play on the Ultimate Frisbee team. I’m really looking forward to meeting incoming students and being able to show them why I love this school!

There are always so many on-campus events that go on pretty much every day (a personal favorite is bingo night). Besides acting and playing ultimate, I also enjoy hiking, dance, and watching sports (especially hockey and football). I chose Keene after going to admitted students day and seeing just how much of a community there is here, and I can’t wait to share that feeling with all of you!

Hello, my name is Meghan Simoneau and I am an incoming sophomore here at Keene State, majoring in nursing. Aside from classes I am involved in the Athena Nursing Club and Fair Trade on campus. I am from Mansfield, Texas (for reference it is about an hour outside of Dallas).

I love to travel, read, and drink a ton of coffee. If there is a book event in Boston there is a good chance I’ll be there. I am really excited to meet each of you!

Here at Keene State I am a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters and I am a tour guide. I also have a part time job downtown at The Stage. Hey everyone! My name is Morgan and I am a sophomore from Southbury, Connecticut. Double majoring in criminal justice and theatre with a double specialization in design/technical theatre and arts management sounds like a crazy combination, I know. This is my first year as an orientation leader and I am extremely excited!

On campus, you can normally find me in the Redfern Arts Center working in the scene shop. I love to volunteer! On campus, I volunteer as a tour guide for the admissions department. It’s a great way to spread my love for the campus with others.

Becoming a student at Keene State College has been one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. So many doors have opened for me since arriving at Keene State. I cannot wait to see where my next adventure will take me.

Hi my name’s Ryan Shannon and I’m from Somers, Connecticut. I’m a junior here at KSC majoring in Architecture with a minor in Sustainability. I’m involved with AIAS on campus and play for the ultimate frisbee club team. In my free time I like playing sports with friends and during the winter I snowboard as much as possible.

This is my first year as an orientation leader but I’m looking forward to meeting all the new incoming students, and showing you guys all the exciting things you have ahead of you at KSC. I myself had an older cousin that attended KSC and he suggested I check it out, which back then I honestly thought I wasn’t going to go here. However on my admitted students day the second I stepped on campus it felt like home and all the other options didn’t seem nearly as good anymore.

Hey everyone! My name is Tom, and I am stoked to be an Orientation Leader again this summer. I’m from Westchester, New York and am going into my junior year this fall. At Keene, I am currently pursuing Elementary Education and English majors. I knew I would love Keene from the moment I stepped on campus. The community and feel and overall pleasure from everyone here was amazing, and I hope I can make everyone’s transition into Keene as exciting as mine was!

I like to think that I’m a presence around campus with all my involvement. Besides from orientation, I also work as a Research and Writing tutor in the library and our on-campus Writing Center, providing any help to students looking for assistance while writing papers. I also volunteer as Peer Mentor in one of the first year education classes and help put on community events with our students and schools around the town. And after my busy days, you can always catch me at events on campus, especially N.O.C. Trivia and Bingo!

Keene is such a great place with so many opportunities, and I hope I can share with everyone what it has to offer. If you see me around say hi, and I am excited to help bring everyone a top- notch Orientation!

Hi everyone, my name is Tyler, and I am from Winchendon, a small-town in Massachusetts not far from Keene. I am very excited to get the opportunity to be a part of the 2019 Orientation staff this year. I’m entering my sophomore year and am majoring in Architecture with a minor in Sustainability. Keene State is a great place to be. I know you will love it here, there really are so many different things to get involved in.

I am a member of the division three swim team which takes up most of my time. Being a student athlete is a challenge, however it helps me to manage my time and I really appreciate my free time. When I’m not at the gym I am involved in Owl Nation and I am a part of the Honors Program. Getting involved in these organizations have allowed me to meet so many people.

Keene State is a home away from home for me and I absolutely love being on campus. You will probably find me at the TDS center, or goofing around at weekly bingo. I also like to explore the area of Keene and play some Pokémon Go. I am so excited to meet you all, I’m sure you are a little anxious to move into college, but we are here to make that transition smooth and a little less scary. See you soon and welcome to Keene State!!

Hey everyone! My name is Veronica and I am from Manchester, New Hampshire. I will be a sophomore this fall, majoring in Theatre and Dance with a specialization in Acting, and Journalism with a focus in News Media. I chose to come to Keene because of the feel of community and closeness the campus has, as well as the amazing programs and extracurriculars the college has to offer.

When I’m not busy studying hard for classes, I can be found rehearsing for a show, writing for the Equinox, playing Bingo in the NOC, watching Netflix, or just hanging out with friends. I love art, musicals, dance, coffee, puns, spontaneous car rides, and adventures. However, nothing can compare to how much I love my cat.

I am super excited to welcome all of you new Owl’s to Keene State College, and can’t wait to help you begin your incredible journey here!
