Hey everyone! My name is Colin Bent and I am a junior here at Keene State! I am from Oxford, Massachusetts and I am a Computer Science major with a focus in Cybersecurity.

Here at Keene State I’ve found amazing people in a number of communities ranging from Greek Life to ResLife. When I find some free time I like to toss around a frisbee with a few friends or go long boarding. Keene has plenty of activities here on campus so you’ll always find your place doing something you love and with a community like Keene State you can’t go wrong.

With that, I am very excited to meet you all! I can’t wait to begin a new and exciting year, and feel free to say hi! We have plenty of great things in store for you all, so I hope you’re as excited as I am! See you guys soon.

I’m so happy to be your orientation leader and I can’t wait to show you why Keene State is the best school around! This school will offer you amazing opportunities every single day. I love it here and I know you will too! It’s always a great day to be an owl! Hi everyone! My name is Kelsie and I am a sophomore here at Keene State. I’m from Plymouth, Maine, which is a very small town that not a lot of people know about. I’m now here at Keene State loving this new adventure! I am currently an Elementary Education major with a secondary major in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. I am also looking into the physical Sciences as well and might do something with that in the future.

Outside of the classroom I am involved with Owl Nation and Big Brothers Big sisters. Both groups are so rewarding to be apart of and so fun and I would recommend it to anyone. Keene has so many different groups and opportunities to get involved with and I recommend that you do just that! Keene is a great school and I love it here because of all the wonderful people and great opportunities it gives everyone and I hope you love it here too!

Other things you could find me doing would be hanging with friends, watching Netflix, taking naps, listening to music, and the most common getting food or eating! I’m super excited to meet you all and help you begin your journey here at Keene State!

Hi my name is Zachary and I will be a Junior here at Keene State College this upcoming fall. I grew up in Valley Stream, NY and moved to Montpelier, VT in 7th grade. After graduating from Montpelier High School I moved to Randolp Center, VT and to Keene State!

I am currently dual majoring in Elementary Education and History with a minor in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Keene State has become my second home over the past two years. I fell in love with this campus the moment I stepped onto it. It’s beautiful, and the people are outstanding. Keene State provides its students with some amazing education programs where any student can thrive.

Some of my favorite hobbies are playing video games and watching sports. I love to watch professional baseball and hockey along with college football. One of my favorite times of the year when it comes to sports is March Madness. I’m involved with multiple clubs on campus such as Owl Nation and Big Brothers Big Sisters. There’s a numerous amount of clubs here at Keene State and getting involved here makes the experience even better.

I’m super excited to meet you all here this upcoming summer! Keene State has become my second home and I’m exhilarated to show you how it can become your second home too! Welcome to Keene State!

Hi everyone! My name is Meredith and I am a sophomore here at Keene State. I am from Salem, New Hampshire, and I came to Keene to study Elementary Education and English. This is my first year on Orientation Staff and I am beyond excited!

Here at Keene State I am a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters and I am a tour guide. I also have a part time job downtown at The Stage. When I am not busy with clubs, work, or homework, I enjoy spending time with my friends and going to the gym. My favorite part about Keene State is how tight knit the community is. I have met so many amazing people here and it has truly become my home away from home.

I wanted to be an Orientation Leader because of my love of KSC and passion for helping others. I can’t wait to meet you all this summer and help you guys with your transition to Keene State!

I chose Keene State because it is close to home for me. I loved the smaller population and the rural atmosphere. Keene State has a great education program which was perfect for me. Everyone here was so welcoming and helpful. Its such a beautiful place.

I am so excited to be an orientation leader and share the many wonderful things about Keene State College with all of you!

Hi everyone! Congratulations on coming to Keene State, it’s a great school as I hope you will agree. But anyway, my name is Jaime and I’m from New Milford, Connecticut. I’m a sophomore and a double major in Elementary Education and Sociology with a minor in Psychology!

After taking a tour here, Keene State became my #1 school. I was then greeted with a positive and welcoming community of orientation programs and that’s when I decided to join the O-Staff myself. Now, after my first year at KSC, I know enough of the basics to teach you what I know and hopefully welcome you the same way I was when I was in your same shoes- well, not the same shoes because that would be weird, but you know what I mean.

Since coming here, I have joined Big Brothers Big Sisters and now the Orientation Leader staff. Two great opportunities and both have had the family away from home feel I desired!

I can’t wait to see all of you soon, and to welcome you to Keene State! I hope here at school you find the happiest times of your life, just like I did!

Hi everyone, my name is Tyler, and I am from Winchendon, a small-town in Massachusetts not far from Keene. I am very excited to get the opportunity to be a part of the 2019 Orientation staff this year. I’m entering my sophomore year and am majoring in Architecture with a minor in Sustainability. Keene State is a great place to be. I know you will love it here, there really are so many different things to get involved in.

I am a member of the division three swim team which takes up most of my time. Being a student athlete is a challenge, however it helps me to manage my time and I really appreciate my free time. When I’m not at the gym I am involved in Owl Nation and I am a part of the Honors Program. Getting involved in these organizations have allowed me to meet so many people.

Keene State is a home away from home for me and I absolutely love being on campus. You will probably find me at the TDS center, or goofing around at weekly bingo. I also like to explore the area of Keene and play some Pokémon Go. I am so excited to meet you all, I’m sure you are a little anxious to move into college, but we are here to make that transition smooth and a little less scary. See you soon and welcome to Keene State!!

I love to travel, read, and drink a ton of coffee. If there is a book event in Boston there is a good chance I’ll be there. My favorite thing on campus is probably the sizzlers (they are so tasty), but I chose KSC because of the beautiful campus and welcoming, community atmosphere. I am really excited to meet each of you!

Orientation Leaders

Caitlin McCracken

Caitlin McCracken

Hey, my name is Caitlin. I will be a sophomore in the fall, and double majoring in Elementary Education and General Science. I am from Alton Bay, New Hampshire, which is about an hour and a half from campus…up at the Big Lake, but I was born in Virginia at Langley Air Force Base. It is my first year as an Orientation Leader, and I am so excited to meet and welcome all of you to Keene State College!

When I was first looking at KSC, I was worried that it was too close to home and that my family would come and visit me too much, but they have been pretty good so far. However, I enjoy being relatively close to home, so that if I ever need or want to go home, I can easily do so. While touring Keene State, I discovered the sense of community that it brings along with an education. This was one of the deciding factors as to why I chose to attend Keene, that and the amazing Department of Education, which works directly with the state to ensure that Education majors graduate with the requirements needed in order to teach in New Hampshire.

During my first year, I started off easy by just trying to get situated into the new environment that is Keene State. After being comfortable in my classes, meeting people, and making friends, I found myself a job at the Hannaford in town. I find that having a job and balancing classes is rather easy for me, and it helps keep me busy. Whenever I am not at work or in class, you can find me hanging out with friends or watching Netflix. I cannot wait to see and meet you, and I look forward to helping you feel at home at Keene State College.

Chris Stimson

Chris Stimson
Chris Stimson

Hi everyone! My name is Chris and I am a sophomore at KSC. I am a Music Composition major with a minor in Psychology. I grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Conard High School. I am also an Eagle Scout from Troop 163 in my hometown. I hope to one day write pieces that can move people on a deep emotional level and teach a high school band or orchestra.

When I first set eyes on KSC, it was a happy accident, and coming here was one of the best decisions of my life. One of the things that certainly caught my eye was the fabulous music department. As a multi-instrumentalist playing in various groups in high school ranging from rock to jazz, a strong music department was very important to me, not to mention the amazing psychology department as well. The downtown also reminds of the center back home. Make sure to hit Local Burger!

Orientation was such an inviting and informative experience for me and I am so excited to pass on that welcoming wisdom. See you soon and welcome to Keene State College!

Colette Rinker

Colette Rinker
Colette Rinker

Hi there! My name is Colette and I am going to be a sophomore here at Keene State. I am currently majoring in Communications, and I hope to add a German minor during my time here! I’m from right here in Keene, NH so if you want to know the best coffee shop in town I’m your go-to! Outside of classes, I am a DJ for our campus radio station WKNH Keene, give tours for Admissions, and I am a part of the Vocal Consort ensemble through the music department. This is also my first year on orientation staff! In my free time, I enjoy playing piano, hanging out in the DC with friends, or relaxing in my dorm room with a good book.

I am so glad to have made the decision to go to Keene State because it is such a wonderful place to be. The sense of community here is one of the main reasons why I chose to come to Keene, and I can’t wait to share that experience with you during Owl Orientation! I am so excited to meet you and help you make the transition to college, and I’m happy to be a part of your first memories here.

Welcome home, Owls!

Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I am a sophomore here at Keene State. I have lived my whole life in Windham, New Hampshire and loved every minute of it. I am double majoring in Elementary Education and Women and Gender Studies. I am part of the Fishing Club here at Keene State and I am proud to say that I am one of the only girls on it but it is still so much fun with the guys.

Keene State College was my number 1 ever since the beginning of applying to schools. Right when I got accepted, all my worries went away, and I got excited for the next chapter of my life to start. I chose KSC because it immediately felt like my new home, everyone was so welcoming and inviting and it made the move into college so much easier. I did not want to go far away from home and I live only a bit over an hour away so if I want, I can always go home. There are so many opportunities and ways to get involved here, KSC makes it very easy to get out of your dorm room.

Congratulations on getting accepted and I hope you love Keene State as much as I do. I am so excited to meet all of you and help get you comfortable here at school.

Hello, and congratulations on becoming an Owl! I’m Maddie, a sophomore here at Keene State, and this is my first year on Orientation staff. I’m a Keene native so if you have any questions about my hometown, please ask! Additionally, I commute to campus and want to help other commuters have a relaxed, enjoyable transition into their college years, so please feel free to send any of your questions my way!

I’m currently pursuing a double major in Spanish and sociology with a concentration in social services and am in the process of declaring a minor in Psychology. In the community, I serve as the Social Media Coordinator for the Greater Keene Rotaract Club which is an extension of Rotary International designed for individuals aged 18 to 35. I also work at Ted’s Shoe and Sport in downtown Keene and MoCo Arts’ Creative Arts at Keene multi-arts summer camp. I’m a TV junkie whose greatest vice is any crime show in my free time…Criminal Minds being my favorite!

Hi! My name’s Maddy and I’m a sophomore here at Keene. I’m a double major in theatre (acting) and Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Outside of classes I participate in theatre productions as well as play on the Ultimate Frisbee team. I’m really looking forward to meeting incoming students and being able to show them why I love this school!

There are always so many on-campus events that go on pretty much every day (a personal favorite is bingo night). Besides acting and playing ultimate, I also enjoy hiking, dance, and watching sports (especially hockey and football). I chose Keene after going to admitted students day and seeing just how much of a community there is here, and I can’t wait to share that feeling with all of you!

Hi! My name is Maddy and I am from Hopkinton, Massachusetts. I am going to be a junior here at Keene State with a double major in Elementary Education and Math Education and a Spanish minor.

During the school year, I spend most of my free time studying in the library, working in the Math center, or hanging out with friends at different campus events. I play on Keene’s club ice hockey team and I enjoy being part of clubs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Education Honors Society, and Alternative Break. This past year, I was so lucky to participate in two Alternative Break trips to Memphis, TN and Westminster, VT.

Hey everyone! My name is Morgan and I am a sophomore from Southbury, Connecticut. Double majoring in criminal justice and theatre with a double specialization in design/technical theatre and arts management sounds like a crazy combination, I know. This is my first year as an orientation leader and I am extremely excited!

On campus, you can normally find me in the Redfern Arts Center working in the scene shop. I love to volunteer! On campus, I volunteer as a tour guide for the admissions department. It’s a great way to spread my love for the campus with others.

Becoming a student at Keene State College has been one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. So many doors have opened for me since arriving at Keene State. I cannot wait to see where my next adventure will take me.
