Medieval and Early Modern Studies
Welcome to Medieval and Early Modern Studies at Keene State College.
The program encourages students to celebrate the diversity and richness of the Middle Ages and the early modern period while promoting scholarship for both faculty and students.
The minor in Medieval and Early Modern Studies is an interdisciplinary program with course offerings in the departments of Art, History, and English. Students majoring in any major can choose a Medieval and Early Modern Studies minor.
During their course of study, minors are given several opportunities to develop their skills as critical thinkers and emerging scholars.
The Medieval and Early Modern Lecture, usually held in the fall, allows students to meet and talk with internationally renowned scholars. In the spring, students are encouraged to present at the Academic Excellence Conference at Keene State College and at the Medieval and Renaissance Forum, also held at Keene State College.
Students in this minor increase their research skills and their ability to present an original piece to a professional audience. These are skills that they will use beyond Keene State College, whether they choose to pursue an advanced degree or enter the workforce.
