2016 Alumna Hannah Wise, RD, Nutrition Program Manager, New Dawn Farm, Westmoreland, New Hampshire
"What I enjoyed most as a KSC Dietetic Intern was the ability to customize my experience…What makes KSC DI unique from the rest is that no two interns have the same schedule. The staff tailors your schedule to your wants and needs the best they can, also leaving room for your own project proposals and ideas. The internship provided me with the flexibility, inspiration and space to grow creatively and professionally. Added, and unexpected, bonus of the internship-lifelong friends!."
Initially Hannah looked into this program because it came highly recommended from a close friend and former intern. After discovering more about the program, she explains, "I was drawn to the community focus, individualized schedules, and dynamic classes." Although she had a positive experience with all rotations stating "even the rotations I went into not expecting to love resulted in new skills and increased confidence," the time she spent at New Dawn Farm during her specialty rotation sparked her interest in sustainable food systems and practices. "Clearly I couldn’t get enough as I am employed there now!"
"KSC DI has given me the knowledge, experience and most importantly the confidence to navigate my current position. I am a community dietitian on a farm, a nontraditional position that is certainly not mainstream, yet. This internship exposed me to new experiences, like small-scale agriculture and social issues surrounding food, that I have been lucky enough to turn into a career."
