Painting

Painting as a means of visual expression traces its roots to the dawn of human history. And it’s been a vital part of that history. Painting styles have played significant roles in our civilization’s major periods—think the Renaissance, the Age of Enlightenment, and the Romantic Movement—and yet the discipline remains as relevant and important today as it ever has. And you can add your voice to that progression.

Whether your style is realistic, impressionist, or abstract, or anything in between, Keene State’s art program encourages your development. You’ll gain the confidence, technical skills, and creative maturity you’ll need to grow as an artist, and your professors encourage both the freedom and discipline necessary for you to become a serious painter.

You’ll also find the Art & Design Department to be a supportive, engaged community where you’ll feel comfortable and free to to express your ideas.
