Papers of Award-Winning Journalist Donated
The Archives & Special Collections recently received the papers of journalist Bill Seamans, an award-winning journalist and former correspondent and bureau chief of the Middle East desk for ABC News. Seamans appeared many times with Peter Jennings on ABC Nightly News and with Ted Koppel on Nightline. He is also a frequent commentator on Vermont Public Radio.
Seamans gave a talk last semester in the library’s Marion Wood Reading Area followed by a viewing of an exhibit of his papers in the KSC Archives & Special Collections. Dating from 1967-1991, the papers consist of original news reports, books, and memorabilia that document Israel, the Middle East, and Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. He also donated his poster collection, which includes many rare and unique examples documenting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and posters from Russia’s Soviet era.
The collection is a powerful resource for students and faculty in the History, Journalism, and Holocaust & Genocide Studies programs. If you are interested in working with this collection for personal research, or using the collection in the context of a class project or lesson, contact Rodney Obien, Keene State College Archivist.
