Collections

Archives & Special Collections

Our mission is to preserve, and share the historical records and publications that document the history of Keene State College. We also collect and preserve rare and unique books, papers, and manuscripts that support the curriculum of the college and fosters undergraduate research.

Curriculum Materials Library (CML)

The Curriculum Materials Library (CML), located on the second floor of Mason Library, supports KSC education faculty and students, particularly methods students and student teachers. CML’s collection concentrates on pre-K to grade 12 geography, language arts, mathematics, reading, science, social studies, and school counseling teaching materials, with the emphasis on practical materials presenting teaching methods and activities. The collection comprises items in numerous formats, including books, DVDs, textbook sets, curriculum models, math and science manipulatives, pattern blocks, simple machines, educational games, and puppets.

Juvenile Books

This collection contains fiction and non-fiction works written for preschool through grade 12 children, adolescents and young adults. It is located on the second floor, in the west wing.

Main Collection

This is the circulating collection of books which supports the information needs of the College community, particularly the curriculum. The Main collection is located on the second floor.

Music & Audiobooks

Compact discs for Music are located on the first floor at the back of the Reference stacks, with CD audiobooks on the shelves above them. The music CDs are selected and made available to support the Music curriculum, for relaxation, and in support of non-music courses that examine the world’s recorded legacy. The Audiobooks collection primarily consists of classics of literature and language-learning resources.

Online Resources

Online Resources include over 100 databases of electronic books, journal articles, streaming music and streaming videos. In addition to finding records and links to these online resources in the library’s catalog, the individual EBSCO eBooks and ebrary titles can be accessed via the Keene-Link catalog as well. Streaming music is included in Alexander Street Press’ Music Online, Naxos Music Library, and Naxos Jazz. Online resources can be accessed from anywhere on campus or via KSC ID authentication off campus.

 

Periodicals

Periodicals include journals, magazines and newspapers. These are designated "Library Use Only"; however, online services can be accessed from anywhere via KSC ID authentication.

Video Collection

In support of the College’s curriculum, films are collected in DVD format. In addition to documentary, educational and instructional films, award-winning and popular works may be found here. The collection is designated "Video Shelf" in the Keene-Link catalog, and is located next to the Reference collection on the first floor.
