New Faculty Orientation

Are you a new faculty member at Keene State College who wants to start the semester off right? Orientations for new tenure-track, clinical, artist-in-residence, post-doc, contract, and adjunct faculty provide support during this transition stage of your career.

Orientation for new Tenure-Track, Clinical, Artist-in-Residence, Post-Doc, and Contract Faculty

This annual orientation occurs in mid-August two weeks before the fall semester begins. It lasts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. over two consecutive days. The Coordinator of Faculty Enrichment Jamie Landau leads this orientation but invites other current faculty, administrators, staff, and students to engage in discussion with the new tenure-track, clinical, artist-in-residence, post-doc, and contract faculty. Sample discussion topics and activities include institutional data about Keene State College students, disability services, academic technology, grant writing and undergraduate research, KSC Cares and other wellness support for students, tour of campus and the Mason Library, Title IX and harassment workshop, breakfast with principal administrators, lunch with peer faculty mentors, and meeting with the KSCEA union. This is also an opportunity for new tenure-track, clinical, artist-in-residence, post-doc, and contract faculty to get to know each other and assist one another.

  • The specific dates, times, and locations of the orientation for new tenure-track, clinical, artist-in-residence, post-doc, and contract faculty are on the Faculty Enrichment calendar of events.
  • Faculty who have not yet registered for a Keene State College parking permit should check in at the Parking Office in Keddy House located off Wyman Way, and then park in the nearby designated Visitor Parking Lot.
  • Once new faculty submit the paperwork to be hired, then they will receive a KSC e-mail address and should visit the Owl Card Office in the Dining Commons to get their Owl ID Card.

A New Faculty Learning Community also gathers about once a month throughout the academic year for additional support of this cohort. For more information about the New Faculty Learning Community, visit the Faculty Enrichment webpage about Faculty Learning Communities.

Orientation for new Adjunct Faculty

This orientation for new adjunct faculty occurs twice a year, one to two weeks before both the fall and spring semesters begin. Two orientation sessions are offered each semester, one in the morning and one in the early evening on two different days of the week. At this orientation, the Coordinator of Faculty Enrichment Jamie Landau introduces adjuncts to the student culture at Keene State College with institutional data as well as connects adjuncts to campus-wide faculty enrichment opportunities and student support services. This is also an opportunity for new adjunct faculty to get to know each other and assist one another.
