African Critique on Western Education

This project will analyze three texts by the African novelists Chinua Achebe, Ama Ata Aidoo, and Tsitsi Dangarembga in which they criticize how the colonial values of Western education have corrupted their specific African communities.

But It's Definitely Not a Girl

This research project focuses on the problematic treatment of women in the comic book genre of film and suggests that many negative patterns might be reversed, not only in the movies but in the real world, by giving female filmmakers the chance to make comic book films featuring female protagonists.

African Female Coming-of-Age Narrative

This presentation examines the coming of age narratives of three African women writers who expose the struggles of their young female protagonists and explore their journeys to becoming independent women who fight against patriarchal and cultural forces and work together with men for a shared cultural, social and economic foundation.
