Medieval Manuscripts

This course will trace the development of book making in theMiddle Ages from the Early Christian through Gothic periods(400-1450). Numerous aspects of the medieval book will beaddressed such as book making (materials, processes, etc.), typesof books (Bibles, bestiaries, etc.), the role of artists andpatrons, and the relationship between text and image.
