Comments: This course covers the requirements for the establishment,maintenance, and monitoring of a respirator program. Topicsinclude terminology, OSHA standards, NIOSH certification, andmedical evaluation recommendations. Program highlights includelaboratories on respirator selection, qualitative fit testing,and the use of a large array of respiratory and supportequipment for hands-on training and demonstrations. This courseincludes both quantitative and qualitative fit testing methods.Participants gain the skills necessary to perform respirator fittests. An additional project is required for students takingthis class for credit and will be due at a date set by theinstructor. Students in SAFE 495 Respiratory Protection will be charged a $200 additional fee that will cover textbooks, materials, andlunches provided during the class.
