Arab Civilization

This course will examine the rise of Islam and the Arab empireand their impact across Eurasia and northern Africa in the earlyMiddle Ages, the decay of Arab political and religious unity inthe later Middle Ages, and the intrusion of the West and itsconsequences in the modern era. The focus of the course will beon the relationship between the history and culture of the Arablands and neighboring regions and current issues.
