Outdoor Rec Leadership

This interdisciplinary course will explore outdoor recreational leadership qualities, styles, and group dynamics from multiple perspectives (physical education/communication). Additional focus is placed on experiential learning and examinations of selected program activities. Students develop, lead, and evaluate activities based on varying participant requirements, and earn a Leave No Trace certification. Prerequisites: 24 credits in ISP, including ITW 101 and QL. Spring, Summer.

Comments: IIHP-311 will meet from June 1-8, 2022, as a field-basedimmersion component taking place off-site at Northern Outdoorslocated in The Forks, Maine. Following the week, students willsubmit additional course assignments online through July 8.Students will carpool to the resort and participate in activitiessuch as ropes course, rock climbing, hiking, whitewater rafting,team building, and leadership skills.Non-refundable course fee of $912 PLUS TUITION (fee covers thecost of lodging, meals, equipment, activities, and Leave NoTrace certification).
