Film Workers and Their Craft
This course will explore the behind-the-scenes work of filmproducers, editors, screenwriters, production designers,cinematographers, special effects artists, music supervisors,sound designers, and others. We will investigate their stylisticinnovations, career paths and obstacles, to get inspired and tolearn the art of the possible. We will study films by figuressuch as producers Christine Vachon and Ted Hope; editor ThelmaSchoonmaker; screenwriter Charlie Kaufman; cinematographer RogerDeakins; sound designer Gary Rydstrom and many others. Studentswill have the option to research additional film workers andcreate video essays and other multimedia projects.
