A study of literary form and history through readings and theoretical investigations of a single genre, such as poetry, fiction, drama, or the essay. Prerequisites: ITW 101 and ENG 215. Fall, Spring.

Comments: The course traces the emergence and development of the novelisticform from the 18th-century to the present. We will pay particularattention to how the literary conventions of Realism, Modernism,Postmodernism, and Post-Postmodernism have impacted the novelform. Texts will be drawn from the English, Russian, French, andAmerican traditions.
