19 Cent English Literature

This course includes several of the most famous and widelydiscussed novels of the 19th century. Through our study ofauthors such as Jane Austen, Mary Shelley, Charles Dickens,George Eliot, Emily Bronte, Charlotte Bronte, Thomas Hardy, andW.H. Hudson we will see how the literary imagination engaged withsuch themes as education, marriage, the growth of cities,evolutionary theory, and more. Fulfills 1800-1900 lit option req.
