Rhetoric of Consumerism
This section of Senior Project will analyze the rhetoric oforganizational techniques for marketing, branding, and theproduction of desire for participating in practices ofconsumption. Specifically, we will analyze the processes ofsocial and individual identity construction, as well as thecreation and implementation of market standards and definitionsconcerning certain types of products (e.g.: organics, fair labor,free range, gluten free, vegan, carbon footprint, etc.).Rhetorical Criticism will be the primary method utilized in thisclass in order to produce undergraduate research papers, with theoption of participating in service-learning or high impactpractices.
