A New Way to Think about College Writing and Research

The Guide to Writing, now in its fourth edition, is a book designed for the KSC student body. Purchased by all first-year students, it is intended to help them transition from high school to college by introducing them to basic principles of effective writing and research. The first two sections, written by Dr. Kirsti Sandy, Coordinator of Essay Writing, and Dr. Phyllis Benay, Director of the Center for Writing, discuss writing practices and research methods; the last section provides student samples of effective writing from most KSC majors and disciplines.

The Guide is always available at the KSC Bookstore; faculty need not place specific orders for the text. Faculty members may obtain a complimentary copy of the text by contacting Phyllis Benay, 603-358-2398.
