Adding an FTP Server in HomeSite or ColdFusion Studio

In order to edit your KSC web pages, you must establish a connection with the web server. You should have your web username and password handy before trying to add an FTP server. FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a means of sending files from your computer to the server and from the server to your computer.

  1. Open HomeSite
  2. In the upper-left drop-down menu choose Macromedia FTP & RDS. Once you have selected this option, Macromedia FTP & RDS should also appear in the middle-left window.
  3. Right-click Macromedia FTP & RDS in the middle-left window and select "Add FTP Server."
  4. Complete the empty fields as follows:
    • Description: www.keene.edu
      Host Name: www.keene.edu
Initial directory: (leave blank or enter: yourfoldername e.g, purchasing )
      Username: (your username, e.g. jsmith)
Password: (your web password, e.g. pe2krx*9)
      Root URL: http://www.keene.edu

  5. Click OK. An ftp server icon and name will appear under Macromedia FTP & RDS.
  6. Click the + sign to see your subfolders.
  7. Click the network icon icon to see the files in your folder.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Configure your Settings
