"Because I felt most at home on the campus," wrote a new student when asked why she decided to attend Keene State. We hear the same reason again and again. As beautiful and well maintained as our campus is, it is also designed to encourage a sense of community. At least once a day, almost every student and professor walks down Appian Way, the broad promenade that stretches through campus.

Keene State's campus, reported the New Hampshire Sunday News, "has been transformed in recent years into a showplace of higher education." Designed and laid out in the style of a traditional New England college – with ivy-covered classroom buildings, grassy commons, and brick walkways – the campus is also changing every season as new buildings and other features are built or restored, some with bold contemporary features complementing the classical architecture.

Our campus is just one example of the College's commitment to a sustainable environment. From recycling efforts to our Ashuelot River clean-ups, green is the operative word. Bicycles, the Keene city bikepath, and the extensive free bus service for students are vital elements of transportation.

A student-designed closed loop biodiesel system, Ashuelot River cleanup, green bikes available for student use, a new LEED silver certification for our Pondside III residence hall, and an arboretum that is integrated into the campus are all fur-ther examples of a commitment to awareness of, and protection of, our environment.

The Student Center is a hub on campus: Here, you can check your mail, visit a number of student organization offices, attend a lecture, buy many of the necessities of student life, or grab a bite at Lloyd's or the Night Owl Café (home of the famous Sizzler). Read more in Keene State Today

The old Zorn Dining Commons won architectural awards when it was new in 1966. And so did the new Zorn Dining Commons, when it opened in 2006. The old Zorn is now a Media Arts Center for the 21st century, housing the film, graphic design, and journalism programs.
