Folding Paper: The Infinite Possibilities of Origami

A groundbreaking exhibition that explores the evolution of origami from craft to fine art, and its stunning modern-day applications in the fields of mathematics, engineering, design, and the global peace movement.
Folding Paper is curated by Meher McArthur with tour organized by the Japanese American National Museum, Los Angeles, and International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC. The exhibition was generously supported by the E. Rhodes & Leona B. Carpenter Foundation.
Public Reception: Thursday, October 11. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Hans Schepker and Prof. Vincent Ferlini will discuss the connection between Origami and mathematics. Hosted by Friends of the Thorne.

Wild Land: Thomas Cole and the Birth of American Landscape Painting
"View of the Round-Top in the Catskill Mountains"

Using a combination of large-scale banner graphics, immersive environments, media features, and other interactive strategies, "Wild Land" reveals the way in which Cole, and other artists of his time, pioneered cultural conversations that shaped our perception of the American landscape. The exhibit does not include original Cole paintings.

This exhibition has been made possible by NEH on the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It has been adapted and is being toured by Mid-America Arts Alliance. "Wild Land: Thomas Cole and the Birth of American Landscape Painting" was organized by The Thomas Cole National Historic Site/Cedar Grove, Catskill, New York.
