Walter Nicolai graduated from Yale University in 1986, earning an MFA and MDD in Religion and Art with a focus on the historical basis of three-dimensional form in sculpture, art and architecture. He studied with Professors David Von Schegal, Erwin Hauer, Ursula Von Rydingsvard and Dr. John Cook as a graduate student.
He is professionally-trained as an architectural model builder for Cesar Pelli & Associates and for Herbert S. Newman of Newman Architects, both of New Haven, CT.
Nicolai, who has taught at Keene State College since 1990, brings a background of formal modeling consideration and initial conceptual design in three-dimensional form to the Sustainable Design and Innovation Major at Keene State College.
He is the author of “Modalities in Form:Three Dimensional Design in Sculpture, Art and Architecture,” copyright 2002.
