Professor Yuan Pan teaches Graphic Design with a focus in web-based and time-based media.
Before coming to the United States in 2000, Professor Yuan Pan taught drawing and design courses at Yunnan Polytechnic University, and worked as principle designer at Ming&Tong Advertising Company. Since he received his BFA in Chinese Painting in 1995 at Yunnan Art Institute, his artistic practice has gradually transformed from traditional to digital media. After studies at Auckland University in New Zealand and Parsons School of Design in New York, he received an MFA in Digital Art from Memphis College of Art in Tennessee, in 2002. Since then he has concentrated in the areas of Web, Motion Graphics, Illustration, Digital 3D, and Animation. Professor Pan’s creative work is strongly influenced by his Chinese-painting and Calligraphy background, as well as by modern western art and design. He makes use of both traditional and digital media in his art and design works. While focusing on the process of visual achievements and aesthetic value, he uses art as a tool to reflect his thoughts and attitudes about life and his understanding of western and eastern philosophies.
