Associate Professor Rebecca Kelly (MFA in Communication Design, University of North Texas, 2005) joined the department in 2010. Professor Rebecca Kelly’s area of specialization are in graphic design, advertising/art direction, concepting methodologies, writing childrens's books and bookmaking. She has taught all levels of Graphic Design, rotating Topics Courses that focus on Advertising Design, and the Graphic Design capstone course titled Graphic Design Portfolio. Her professional practice centers around client work and also her research agenda involves advocating for the ethics and responsibilities of graphic designers, and is also concerned with the level of corporate involvement in our everyday lives. She partners in a small graphic design studio working on such as clients as Frito-Lay, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Campbell’s, Hasbro Toys, Southwest Airlines and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. With all of those agendas combined, (and quoting one of her favorite professors) it is her mission to prove to the world that graphic designers can do more than sell toothpaste.
