Student Work Programs

College Work-Study Program

With the aid of federal funds, the College provides on-campus employment opportunities for students with demonstrated financial need. Students who have received and accepted a College Work-Study (CWS) award will receive a CWS Authorization email from the Office of Financial Aid. A printed copy of the CWS Authorization email is required for students to be hired for an on campus position.

Although KSC designates positions for the CWS program, we do not find postions for students - be prepared to search on your own. Throughout the year, job openings are posted online, and students who have a CWS Authorization may interview for such positions on their own. Students are paid every two weeks and are expected to budget these earnings for educational expenses. Pay rates are set by the college and vary based on job titles, required skills, responsibilities, and the employee’s qualifications and experience. Students are assigned a total earning amount for the academic year, based on need. Typical jobs are found in the library, department offices, gymnasium, student center, and residence halls, in positions such as student assistant, library assistant, grounds crew, lifeguard, residence night attendant, and intramural activities assistant.

Funds from the College Work-Study Program enable eligible students to work up to an average of 10 hours per week each semester while classes are in session, and up to 40 hours per week at other times. The number of hours a student may work per week depends on their College Work-Study award and the rate of pay they receive for their work.

Please Note:

  • An accepted College Work-Study award indicates earning limits only, is never deducted from current semester charges, and does not guarantee employment. Students must seek their own jobs.
  • The College Work-Study Program at KSC is for full-time, matriculated KSC students who are currently enrolled.

Student Hourly Work Program

In addition to the College Work-Study Program, you may be eligible to work on campus under the Student Hourly Work Program, which is supported entirely by the College and administered by the Office of Financial Aid. Student Hourly jobs are also posted online and allow students to work approximately 10 to 12 hours per week. Students are paid every two weeks and are expected to budget these earnings for educational expenses.

Please Note:

  • College Work-Study (CWS) eligible students are given priority in finding on-campus positions during the first two weeks of each semester, ensuring that students with the greatest financial need benefit from their financial aid package.
  • All on-campus jobs are available to CWS eligible students only during the first two weeks of each semester.
  • After the two-week CWS period, some of the on-campus jobs become available to full-time, matriculated KSC students and are noted as Student Hourly (SH) eligible on the online job listing.
