Science Center Construction Update

Out with the Old
The crane with T-rex-like jaws began tearing down the front of the building on Thursday, May 22. "This is so exciting," said Renate Gebauer, assistant professor of biology, one of a number of onlookers. As the crane did its job, the old lecture halls were revealed. In the new design, the lecture halls will be replaced with smaller, modern teaching rooms that emphasize hands-on learning of science.

Science Center Demolition

In the first week of construction a demolition crew removed the seats from the lecture halls, preparing the spaces for asbestos removal. By Sunday, the building was empty and ready to become a construction site.
