School of Sciences and Social Sciences

In the Labs, in the Field

Imagine traveling to Nicaragua, where you live with a local family and help out on their farm - sociology. Or discovering the levels and types of pollution in a nearby river - environmental science. Or helping to create an atlas for New Hampshire schoolchildren - geography. Or examining the genes of a tiny crustacean to determine the health of local ecosystems - biology. Or developing a marketing strategy for a local business - management.

These are just some of the multitude of projects undertaken by students in the School of Sciences and Social Sciences. At Keene State, you'll get your hands dirty - "learning by doing" will be the common theme in your studies. Our psychology students apply their knowledge working with local agencies. Sociology students run our Community Research Center, dealing with dozens of requests for research help each year. Our management students regularly receive national acclaim for their business case studies.

You might be surprised to know that our new Science Center - with 32 new labs and a research center - houses some of the most high-tech equipment in New England - and some of the most dedicated faculty. Quite simply, few other undergraduate colleges in the region offer the research and study opportunities that Keene State does.
